What's walkable: The Belmar district near Wadsworth Boulevard and Alameda Avenue, and West Colfax Avenue in the 40 West Arts District around Lamar Station.

Approximate, at normal (non-rush) traffic. Rush hour, weekend mountain traffic and snow can add a lot.

Transit

The W Line light rail runs through Lakewood, with stations including Lamar (in 40 West) and Lakewood·Wadsworth, and service to Union Station and Golden. Belmar itself is south of the line, so you would drive, bike or bus to a station.

What it's like

Lakewood is a large suburban city with a planned downtown, Belmar, built where an old mall used to be. 40 West is an older stretch of Colfax with an arts district identity. Around both you will find a mix of condos, townhomes and mid-century houses.

What homes cost

Median sale price over the three months ending September 2026, as shown on Redfin in November 2026. Medians move every month and swing a lot where there are few sales.

Good fit if

People who want a central west-side location between Denver and Golden, light rail access, and more house for the money than in Denver.

Maybe not if

People who want a historic main street feel or a true city neighborhood.
